Rolling orchards, pumpkin patches, and apple wine!!
This weekend my teenage sons best friend from his old school came to stay for a few days, they hadn't seen eachother since November of last year. It was quite the weekend, one of the days we took the kids to a bunch of apple orchards in the area. Since this is a family tradition we do every year we thought it would be fun to take T.J.'s friend as he had never been to an orchard bef0re. One of the orchards we visited we bought a carmel apple pie and some ice cream and the five of use had a nice little feast while waiting for the wagon ride to begin( which takes you all around the orchard, it was very beautiful). At another orchard just down the rode the hub and I did some wine tasting( never knew they could make wine out of apples, we sampled about six of them, we made sure to look like true wine testers with the smelling and swirling of the wine glass, theres an art to it you know, very delicious) while we sampled the wine and tested the amny dips and salsas the three boys took several trips through the corn maze, this being the one thing they really wanted to do( yes two 17 year olds and one 12 year old and what they wanted to do most was go through the corn maze, go figure, they didn't even care that it was acctually set up for toddlers) It was a very beautiful day perfect weather, we came home with lots of apples, homemade apple cider, pumpkins, squash, guards and some great dip and salsa mixes. If you have any orchards in your area be sure to go visit they have so many differant things to offer everyone has a good time and what could be better than home grown apples and fressh homemade apple cider..
