present for mom
On a recent fishing excursion that my three men went on they decided to bring mom back a little present, since I was left home to clean. No not pretty flowers or some nice fish to cook for diner, a baby snapping turtle. "Isnt she cute", "we call her snappy", "can we keep her" , "we found her swimming by the boat" were the words being hurtled at me while the youngest looked for a bowl to put her in and the oldest looked for bugs to feed her. This was the habitat that was created for snappy, rocks to sit on, grass with the roots still on to hide behind and peices of dead bugs for her to eat, all put in moms big glass mixing bowl. Great present guys and yes she is cute, for now, but I think it has escaped your attention that someday soon she will be big, ugly, mean, and full of attitude and soul purpose in life to snap on to something and never let go. So for the sake of fingers, toes, and paws, she was able to spend the night being fawned over, told how cute she was, and told by the youngest that if she every sees us again be nice were friends, then taken back to where she belonged to live out her days doing what snapping turtles do, crossing roads (just kidding but that seems to be the only place we have realy ever seen them)

Lazy Weekend
This is the cabin my mom rented for a week, she invited us up for the weekend, we had an awesome time. We fished, went out on the boat, played games with the kids, shopped (I came back with a realy nice wood rockin chair), watched the fog roll in across the lake, but most of all we spent some well needed down time visiting, telling stories, and reconnecting with nature and eachother. I would definately recommend staying at a cabin for all of you who are stressed, no phones or tv, just family and nature in all its glory. In every dirrection is Gods handywork, its hard to be stressed surrounded by the sun shinning like jewels across the water, feeding hungery gulls from a dock, nestling in among old pines that seem to touch the clouds, standing on a dock out on the water with a cup of coffee watching fog roll in early in the morning while the rest of the world sleeps. But most of all kickin the feet up and sittin back in the evening visiting with the ones you love.....What a blessing....Thanks MOM for time well spent, I will cherish the memories.....
