Thought for the day

There is nothing that we can see on earth which does not either
show the wretchedness of man or the mercy of God.
One either sees the powerlessness of man without God
or the strength of man with God...... Blaise Pascal...

Books I am currently reading!!!

The Wonder Spot by: Melissa Bank
Boxers To Bandits by: Stephen Fortosis & Mary Graham Reid
Reach by: Laila Ali (Mohamid Ali's daughter)

All very good books and yes I am trying to finish all three at once, not because I am such an intellect, I just like to mix it up alittle. Lately I have had very little time to read, something I really need to work on since reading is one of the ways I wind down and relax. A good book, a cup of tea or coffee, and a half an hour to read before bed and I sleep like a baby. But since I only do this every two weeks when the hubs is workin the night shift it takes me a good long time to finish a book, and the dark circles under the eyes from the lack of sleep are really making there presence known. I have decided to set aside time each night to read if for nothing more than to help me get a good nights sleep, I am only 35 but some days I feel like I am 45 and barely have the energy to get through the day much less deal with the abligations of being a wife and a mother of two. I know it is because I do not get much sleep, I toss and turn most of the night, we go to bed late and get up early. I have heard others my age complain about the same thing (very little sleep). Is it our age or what I'm not really sure I just know that the experts say to try to spend at least a half an hour a day doing something for yourself that helps you relax. I do seem to sleep better when I read, not sure why. If you all have any sleep suggestions or any good book suggestions they would be greatly appreciated...

Garden, its what country folk do...

The reason for my absence, putting in my garden. I just love being outside in the dirt. Those orange puffs laying here and there are from the marigolds I planted to keep the sweet little bunny I have living in my yard away from my garden. And the little cream colored things laying everywhere are the seed pods from my maple trees (you know the things we called helicopters when we were little) will they have taken over my yard, my garden, my flower beds, I have little maple trees growing everywhere. For some reason I have more of these then I do leaves on the trees, not sure why, but they sure are a nuisance. Oh and just to let you know I had 2 little helpers, helping me with my garden this year. The hubby tild it for me (such a good job hun thanks, sorry you had to work around the garlic, the strawberries, and the rhubarb plants) the second helper was my sweet little pooch Teddie who so graciously helped work up the freshly tild soil with his little paws as he ran through it many many times, after a chest plant, and many tumbles later, he decide to fall asleep in the dirt with his little head under one of the rhubarb leaves( so thanks Ted for all your help your such a trooper, always there to lend a paw, my little shadow) Posted by Picasa

Side tracked!

Went to the store for oranges and grape jelly for the birds (oreoles) and came back with these instead. A bath puff cause a girl can never have too many puffs especially since the men in the house keep using yours. And a 3 piece set of fly-swatters, cause these are cuter than the other 4 I bought last year that I'm sure the flys carried off, and since I can't find one, I am willing to bet the neighbors farm, that is exactly what happened to them...... My little backyard friend, the very one who felt the need to fly dangerously close to my head while I was trying to weed my flower bed. He swooped at me so many times I finally got the hint he wanted me to leave so he could eat. Apparently he forgets who actually feeds him. So cute but so territorial.

Sorry this pic is so out of focus I took it through the kitchen window at an angle on my speed setting which did not work very well(I want a new camera please hun, the Canon Rebel I showed you, that would make an awesome birthday gift)Posted by Picasa

Hide the evidence

This is whats left of my garden fairy after the boys played softball in the yard. Yes, you are seeing a huge hole in the chest and the head is barely attached. They were going to put it back and pretend that it did not get broken, but their guilt got the better of them and they decided to show me. The youngest said "if you tip the head forward and make her look down you can't even tell, see good as new".....A little to gruesome for my taste...I'm realy not to upset since it was supposed to go to my mother-in-law for her birthday last year, but we put it in the garage and forgot about it. A month later while getting my sprinkler for the garden, low and behold there she was, so I put her in my yard. After all I think it would have been alittle tacky to give my mother-in-law her gift a month late don't ya think... Posted by Picasa

Anna's wish list!

1. Make me breakfast in bed!
2. Restock my dwindling supply of my favorite cologne!
3. Let me choose the movie!
4. Let me pick the biggest hanging flower basket at our favorite nusery!
5. Get me the book Like Life by: Lorrie Moore!(can't wait to read it)
6. Snuggle with me on the couch with a big batch of buttery popcorn that you made while we watch Pride and Prejudice "together"!( hun this one might be alittle tough for you to do being that there is no shit blowing up, no blood and gore, and no Matrix moves in this movie, but you owe me big time after that retard comment and what a way to show the love)
7. Take me on a picnic!
8. Take me for a scenic drive!
9. Order take-out from our favorite Chinese restaurant(or eat in this time)
10. Get a sitter and take me to our secret spot where we used to liston to Whitesnake,Styx,Meatloaf,Little River Band,Dr. Hook and where we used to dance under the stars to Air Supply songs! (sorry Hun, I know you will get razed about the Air Supply songs being that you were such a huge fan and all, but in the end you got the girl so who cares)

Hun, being that Mothers Day is just a few days away and you weren't sure what you and the boys could do for me just thought I would give you a few ideas! He He

"Pillow Talk"

The other night the hubs and I were discussing something in bed not really sure what the contexts was about, something about the open window and what the neighbors would think. He says to me "sometimes you can be so retarded, now give me a kiss''....Okay, not sure where your from but to me being called a retard in bed is sure to make me be all warm and fuzzy....Hello!

hun, this would be a prime example on one of those times your not going to get lucky
and I'm subtracting 10 points for that little remark.

A simple girl!

Friday the hubs and I took the day off to go thrift saling with his mother and sister. We get to gether once a year every year to spend the intire day thrift saling. The last couple of years we have not been to lucky finding things, but we all have fun. It always turns out to be a fun time. This year we went with a list, and managed to find everything on that list except fishing stuff for the hub. I even found 2 purses, a realy cute pair of new shoes, 2 country snowmen, some new lace curtains and a pitch fork. I'm a sucker for a good deal and I'm trainin the hubby to be that way too. I have managed to decorate my house with thrift sale, second hand store, and counrty craft store finds and the rest are things people have given me (except for big items like furniture and appliances) everything in my house has some type of little memory tied to it. I'm not much for real expensive things I never have been, we grew up poor so you made do with what you had. I'm just a simple girl with simple tastes. Of course its human nature to want more than what you have and there are many things I want but most of the time I am content with a few bucks in the wallet to get a coffee when I'm out runnin arrends, afew bucks to stop at a garage sale when I have the time and a few bucks to stop at those cute little lemonaid stands you see in the summer on a warm day.....
